Ordinary Love Sh!t

Love Deluxe

Flowing over a  Sade sample– what part of the game is that? Joe Budden is one of the few rappers able to do justice to a Sade joint, and he murders this sh!t. In quintessential Joe Budden fashion he’s a little too real with the content, and there are quotable’s for days. Personal favorite: “If you’re not lifting the burden, you’re probably adding to it”.

Halfway through part 2 the sample is flipped from “No Ordinary Love” to “Cherish The Day”, both of which I’ve included at the bottom for reference. [Sidebar:] While I prefer a lot of the album cuts over the more popular joints, both of these Sade classics stay in heavy rotation, especially the live version of “Cherish The Day”.

Friday Night Lights Cover

You were down with J. Cole’s music before he blew up? No? Well, download this tape and you might still could find some room on the bandwagon before he’s the next ‘it’ rapper, and it’s full. I’ve listened through twice, but I still need a couple more listens before I review it. ‘MUST DOWNLOAD’ status.

Nicki Minaj

Point towards a solid debut album. With the Em joint and now these two– I’d say she’s got some heat rocks in the arsenal. Plus she’s extra fine.

MM2 Cover

Album art for Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, dropping Nov. 9th.

Tracklist:

1. Scott Mescudi VS the World feat. Cee-Lo
2. REVOFEV
3. Don’t Play This Song feat. Mary J. Blige
4. We Aite [Wake Your Mind Up]
5.Marijuana
6. Mojo So Dope
7. Ashin’ Kusher
8. Erase Me feat. Kanye West
9. Wildin’ Cuz I’m Young
10. The Mood
11. MANIAC feat. Cage & St. Vincent
12. Mr. Rager
13. These Worries feat. Mary J. Blige
14. The End feat. GLC, Chip Tha Ripper & Nicole Wray
15. All Along
16. GHOST!
17. Trapped In My Mind

Everything I’ve heard so far is dope, with the exception of ‘Erase Me’. That sh!t is just mad annoying. But almost without fail, rappers desperately cling to the formula “Most Annoying Song On The Album = Lead Single” (Perfected by Eminem). I wonder if that says more about them, or the consuming public… [Sidebar]: <60 degrees outside, cloudy, chance of rain, and early arrival of darkness = #kidcudiweather.

For AB. Tracklist + commentary included.

1. Big Boi feat. Andre 3000 & Sleepy Brown- Lookin’ 4 Ya [Official Extended Mix]: Now with an extra verse each from Sir Lucious Left Foot and 3 Stacks.

2. Pimp C feat. Drake &  Bun B- What Up: Feels like Houston. The final version is supposed to have Wayne on it too.

3. Travis Barker feat. The Cool Kids- Jump Down: Dope collab.

4. Lil Wayne feat. Drake- Gonorrhea: S.T.C. (Sexually Transmitted Crack)

5. Curren$y- Twistin’ Stank [Hard In The Paint Freestyle]: Get ignorant with this on. *throws ‘bows*

6. Justin Bieber feat. Kanye West & Raekwon- Runaway Love [Remix]: The aspartame of this tape (unknowingly addictive, and may or may not cause brain damage).

7. Nicki Minaj- Right Thru Me: Hopefully no sword fights in the video.

8. Drake feat. Mary J. Blige & Swizz Beatz- Fancy [Remix]: Extended intro featuring the sample and a verse from MJB.

9.  Lauryn Hill- Repercussions: I need more Lauryn in my life.

10. Lloyd- Lay It Down: Your crew.

11. Rick Ross feat. T.I., Jadakiss, & Erykah Badu- Maybach Music III: Beat is outrageous, E. Badu’s hook is killer, and the T.I. and Jada verses are superb. I need a Rick Ross-less version of all Rick Ross’ music.

12. Freddie Gibbs feat. YP- Something New: Gangsta Gibbs sh!ttin on ho’s. Same sample as Dr. Dre’s ‘Xxxplosive’ and E. Badu’s ‘Bag Lady’. [Sidebar]: The apostrophe in ‘ho’s’ is unnecessary, but ‘hos’ just doesn’t look right. And a ‘hoe’ is a garden tool. We need a ruling on this.

13. Chip Tha Ripper- Ain’t No Love Here: This joint is so Cleveland I keep waiting for Krayzie Bone to jump in for a 3rd verse. This one’s in HEAVY rotation right now. Love the beat.

14.  Kanye West- Devil In A New Dress: Favorite new Kanye. Beat is REdiculous.

15.  Lil Wayne feat. Drake- With You: Too many quotables from Wayne, and Drake slays the hook.

16. Kid Cudi- Mr. Rager: If this is what the new album sounds like, count me in.

17. Freddie Gibbs- Falling Out Of Place [Pollyn Remix]: Also in heavy rotation. Beat is hypnotic, and as always FG’s flow is on point. [Sidebar]: I find myself walking around the crib singing “We dont. support. ho’s.“.

18. Lupe Fiasco- Go To Sleep: Lupe in top form. Catchy hook.

19.  Kid Cudi- Mojo So Dope: I love how menacing he sounds when he’s like whispering “Hey–my mojo’s so dope B!TCH“. Like he’s gonna stab you if you don’t recognize the dopeness of his mojo.

20. Diggy feat. Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell- Oh Yeah!: This beat is entrancing. Send me into space with this one.

Enjoy. Thank me later. (And oh my goodness! You’re welcome.)
