Not Falling For It [UPDATE]

J Foxx

Don’t like what they did with the beat, Jamie Foxx just sounds corny on principle, and Drake just should’ve bought the track back.

In summation– a prime example of the Rick Ross Adjunct: “I want to hear this [Insert Artist’s Name Here] song, minus [Insert Said Artist’s Name Here As Well]”. Ex- This Rick Ross track is fire, I just wish Rick Ross wasn’t on it.

UPDATE: *hov voice* Yess! The music gods have smiled favorably upon us. Mastered/Dirty/CDQ/Drake only version. This version >>>>

Dark Twisted Beautiful Fantasy Cover

No one man… should have his album artwork dictated to him. But alas, this cover of  My Dark, Twisted, Beautiful Fantasy won’t see the retail space anytime soon (What about a 10 year anniversary deluxe edition of the album though? Or when a Kanye West discography box set drops?).  Anyone offended by this artwork–why so serious?

EXTRA G’S: I compiled all of the G.O.O.D. Friday releases, plus “See Me Now” and “Power” into a single .rar (With artwork). While Kanye offers these tracks at kanyewest.com for free, he keeps it extra corny by forcing you to give an email address, and forcing you to receive asinine mail from the site. FAIL.

MTG Ranking:

1. Devil In A New Dress- The beat is sickle cell, plus Confucius West never spoke truer words when he said “It’s hard to be humble, when you’re stunting on the jumbo-tron”.

2. Don’t Stop! (CRS)- Lupe murders this, Kanye’s got quotables, and Pharrell jacks Pusha’s flow (as that’s the only flow that he sounds decent using). Beat progression and breakdown are fire. Hard to believe this joint was recorded 2+ years ago.

3. So Appalled- Wu-Tang esque darkness (provided by RZA), Swizz Beatz not rapping, and solid verses from all involved. (Standout verse goes to Cyhi The Prynce.)

4. Good Friday- Solid beat, catchy hook from Cudi.

5. Take One For The Team- Hilarious. Kanye’s verse is perfect. How they got a female on this track is beyond me. Nicki should’ve been on this, as she’s the only one who could’ve flipped the concept perfectly.

6. Runaway Love- Over Wu-Tang beats is the only way Justin Bieber is tolerable. Raekwon’s verses are forgettable, but it’s his name on the bill that provides the value.

7. Power [Remix]- Kanye blacked out, and the Swizz Beatz flip of the beat is crazy.

8. Monster- Nicki is the standout here, Jay’s verse is Sarah Marshall (forgettable). (c) Joe Budden

9. Christian Dior Denim Flow- Beat and hook are heat-flame, (John Legend x Cudi should’ve happened MUCH sooner) but none of the verses stand out really. And Lloyd Banks’ voice ruins any song he’s on. And people claim he’s extra lyrical, but his sh!t is just extra boring… He rarely brings anything new to the table.

10. Lord, Lord, Lord- Smoothed out. Really dope verse from Mos, but Raekwon bores, and Swizz Beatz is a starter on Pharrell’s Producers-Who-Can’t-Flow All-Stars.

11-13. See Me Now, Power, Runaway- Technically superior, but See Me Now is too long, the Power Remix is better than the original, and Kanye’s singing on Runaway is unlistenable (Pusha kills it though). (c) MTG

MM2 Cover

Album art for Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, dropping Nov. 9th.

Tracklist:

1. Scott Mescudi VS the World feat. Cee-Lo
2. REVOFEV
3. Don’t Play This Song feat. Mary J. Blige
4. We Aite [Wake Your Mind Up]
5.Marijuana
6. Mojo So Dope
7. Ashin’ Kusher
8. Erase Me feat. Kanye West
9. Wildin’ Cuz I’m Young
10. The Mood
11. MANIAC feat. Cage & St. Vincent
12. Mr. Rager
13. These Worries feat. Mary J. Blige
14. The End feat. GLC, Chip Tha Ripper & Nicole Wray
15. All Along
16. GHOST!
17. Trapped In My Mind

Everything I’ve heard so far is dope, with the exception of ‘Erase Me’. That sh!t is just mad annoying. But almost without fail, rappers desperately cling to the formula “Most Annoying Song On The Album = Lead Single” (Perfected by Eminem). I wonder if that says more about them, or the consuming public… [Sidebar]: <60 degrees outside, cloudy, chance of rain, and early arrival of darkness = #kidcudiweather.
